Production Update and What to Expect This Month

Delivery time is almost upon us! Credit Cards were charged for shipping and Backerkit add-ons yesterday. If you only had digital products on your order, this did not affect you at all.

If your payment information errored or needs to be changed, you have until February 1st to update it. That is when the official ship date for Lewd Dungeon Adventures physical orders is, but many of you will have your orders shipped to you even sooner than that. 

Almost everything is ready to go at this point. The only things left on my end are finishing formatting for Disappearances in Riverhelm and the conversion of the 5e edition, both of which should be completed tomorrow. I also need to begin shipping all physical products to the warehouse.

Potential Setbacks

Contact with my shipping partner and the warehouse has been sparse. Only half of the contracts I need in place are there, and I have not yet received information on how all of this will work. However, there’s still plenty of time, so I’m not sweating it yet. I emailed everyone today to let them know it’s go-time.

I still have not received a perfect(without errors) print edition of The Mage’s Stolen Goods, but I’m hoping that the next proof copy I receive will be the final one. Again, I am not anticipating this will set the project back, but it’s good to mention it, just in case.

Problems

I have been extremely lucky with artists thus far, but it finally happened. One of my NSFW artists flaked when I needed revisions for 2 images for Give and Take Hideout. Those 2 illustrations are being left out of the book.

Changes

Throughout the life of this Kickstarter, and especially since we created the Discord, Lewd Dungeon Adventures has been evolving and changing with customer feedback. There were a few things promised in the Kickstarter that are not happening because of that. One of which is that there’s less NSFW art because I changed the section in each campaign book from a list of suggested sex positions for Hero deaths to a system where you roll die that allows for a bit more variety, freedom, and less specifics. I think there are also a few less pieces of individual monster art because those monsters showed up either on the book covers or in other pieces of art in the game. So while all monsters did get illustrated, not all of them got their own individual image next to their stat card.

To make up for these changes, everyone will be receiving a First Edition Compendium that will feature the Enemies, Spells, and Sex Positions from all four campaign books of this Kickstarter. It will not be available for sale anywhere.

Another change that has been made is that everyone will be getting each campaign individually, both via a downloadable file in Backerkit and also via a code from DriveThruRPG so that you will be able to receive lifetime updates for these four campaigns. Originally, the two bonus campaigns were going to be bundled into a limited edition file with The Mage’s Stolen Goods that was only going to be delivered via Backerkit. This particular change was voted on in our Discord. Speaking of which, I often ask for feedback in there, so if you haven’t joined yet but would like to have an influence on the game, I highly recommed doing so. Other Stretch Goal-Specific Things

It was announced in our Discord that as a secret stretch goal for hitting $250k, I would have the game put on Roll20. I applied for a publisher account months ago and have heard nothing back. I also reached out to the one contact I have over there about a month ago and haven’t heard back from them either. I will continue to try monthly to contact the Roll20 team about pushing the project forward. But as of right now, I’m not making any progress with it, and I have no idea why.

As for the large retailer attempt, it came to my attention that I am not going to be able to get these skinny spineless campaign books into brick-and-mortar Barnes & Noble stores, so that is going to have to wait until the first hardback bundle comes out. However, I should still be able to work on getting them into Spencer’s Gifts and Adam & Eve because of the way they display these types of books in their stores. Working on that, as well as general retail distribution to comic book and game stores, will not begin until all four campaign books have been published in paperback on DriveThruRPG and on all major book retailers. Considering how much of a pain it has been to get a flawless paperback edition of the first two campaign books, I don’t estimate that this is something I’ll be able to begin seriously working on until February or March.

The Future of Lewd Dungeon Adventures

I am currently writing the main campaign for the next Kickstarter, which is presently titled The Price of the Dragon. The pre-launch for the Kickstarter will begin in March. The launch of the Kickstarter will be in April, though I don’t have a specific date planned yet.

Early access to Lewd Dungeon Adventures will no longer be offered through Kickstarter and will only be available through Patreon going forward. If you received early access with your Kickstarter pledge, it only extends to the four campaigns from the 2022 Kickstarter. However, you are grandfathered into the Early Access group on Discord.

What to Expect for the Rest of the Month

I will be posting an update on January 15th, when all the digital orders have been delivered. That way, you will know when you should have received it.

I also plan to start shipping out some of the physical orders containing only unsigned paperbacks that week. The delivery time for these orders will be around 3 weeks. Delivery for international orders will vary by location.

Just wanted to give you a heads-up that we plan to charge cards for shipping and add-on items purchased through BackerKit on 01/01/2023. Please make sure that you have the correct card information on file. If any issues arise with your payment, you’ll receive an email letting your know to correct your payment information.

All digital files for this Kickstarter will be delivered on 01/15/2023. We will also start fulfilling physical orders that only contain the softcovers on that day and estimate it will take about a week to process all of those orders. The Collector and Treasure Hunter tiers, and any orders that contain physical products beyond the unsigned softcovers, will be shipped out on or around February 1st. We still haven't finalized things with the warehouse, but I don't currently anticipate any issues with that.  As always, we will keep you updated as things progress.

Monthly Production Update

Hey guys, it’s time for our monthly update!

Here’s where we’re at in production

I submitted the files for the two softcover books yesterday and will be receiving proof copies shortly. If everything looks good, I will make the larger order to start autographing all the copies for those who bought signed copies. Once that is done, I will be shipping all of those to our warehouse in Chicago along with the candles (which have all been labeled by hand) and the sticker packets.

The foreign translations for all languages except for German are complete. I should be receiving the German translation on December 13th and will be putting together the final files for all the translations then.

The 5e versions for everything but Disappearances in Riverhelm are complete.

I am having 2 pieces of NSFW artwork re-done for Give & Take Hideout, and I am still waiting on the NSFW artwork for Disappearances in Riverhelm, which is scheduled to be delivered mid-December. I am also still waiting for the cover illustration for Disappearances in Riverhelm, which should also be delivered in mid-December. Otherwise, all the other artwork has been delivered.

Potential setbacks

At this point, there’s not a ton that can go wrong. The biggest thing I’m worried about is the print proofs. It takes a week for the files to get approved, then 5 – 15 days for them to be shipped with expedited shipping. If anything will hold up the project getting delivered on time, it’s this. I’ve already received one proof for The Core Rulebook & Starter Adventure that had to be modified. I’m hoping that the second time is the charm, but even if it’s not, I can probably order proofs 1 or 2 more times before there’s a risk of the delivery date for the project having to be pushed back. Let’s cross our fingers that everything looks good this time around.

We will be charging cards on January 1st

As was mentioned in the previous update, we will be charging cards for shipping on January 1st. I will be posting an update on or around December 26th to remind you guys.

We will be locking shipping addresses on January 15th

Up until then, you will be able to update your address on Backerkit. If you need to update your address, have Backerkit resend your survey by going here and entering your email address: https://www.lewddungeonadventures.backerkit.com You should then be able to update your shipping address in your Backerkit dashboard.

If you need to update your address after that, message me on here or through Backerkit, and I can do it for you.

All Digital Rewards will be delivered on January 15th.

Unless something goes wildly wrong with not receiving artwork on time, which we don’t anticipate, all digital rewards for this Kickstarter will be delivered on January 15th.

All Physical Rewards will ship out on or around February 1st.

Our plan to ship out physical items is still February 1st. If possible, I’d like to start shipping a little before then. With full transparency, nothing has been sent to our warehouse in Chicago yet, and I still don’t have a contract in place with them, but I have been assured they can meet the deadline, so let’s cross our fingers. Of course, if there are any bumps in the road with this, I will be posting an update.

How we are handling surveys that don’t get filled out, cards that don’t get charged, ect.

There are still 317 people who have not filled out their Backerkit survey. In full transparency, in late January, I (Phoenix Grey) will be going on the road and will not have a permanent location for a long time. This means that any order with physical items that can’t be fulfilled by the warehouse will not be fulfilled, as they will only hold onto and process orders for a limited time.

With that said, any pledge that includes physical items beyond the unsigned softcovers will be getting a full refund on February 1st. Digital pledges and those that only contain the unsigned softcovers can be delivered at any time, so those who fill out their details late will still be able to receive them. Anything else, we won’t be able to fulfill.

Production Update and New Patreon Page

Hey guys. Happy November! Just thought I'd post a production update.

I talked to the third-party shipping company, and my shipping estimates were pretty close. Close enough that what you see in Backerkit is what you'll be charged. With the cost of hiring a warehouse to handle the shipping of physical goods, I will probably be taking a small loss on shipping, but that's fine.

This has been a really big learning experience for me, and next time, I will be much more selective about the physical items I offer and how I go about collecting shipping and delivering orders. But for now, I'm doing my best with what I'm working with.

With that said, the plan is to charge cards for shipping on January 1st of 2023. I will post an update a week before that as a reminder.

Our plan is to start shipping on or slightly before February 1st of 2023. 

Setbacks so far have been minor. A few artists have been late on the delivery of artwork, but it's nothing that's thrown the project off-track. I am still waiting for the NPC artwork, the last batch of NSFW artwork, and a few larger pieces of art. If all goes well, I will receive all of it by the end of December and can begin putting everything together.

The Core Rulebook & Starter Adventure is currently being translated into French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Italian. I have yet to hire a German translator, but I'm working on it and should have someone locked-in within the week.

The first three campaigns have been converted to 5e versions. Only Disappearances in Riverhelm remains to be worked on.

The dice trays have all been manufactured and are awaiting shipment to the warehouse, along with the shot glasses and dice.

The candles should arrive at my house today, and I'm hoping to have them completed by the end of next week.

My biggest blunder so far has been the company I chose to work with to produce the stickers. The stickers arrived in unperforated sheets, and the sheets were not uniform in length, so cutting the stickers out was a nightmare, and many were lost in the process. I will be switching companies to produce the stickers for future campaigns and to replace the ruined stickers in this order.  

In other news, I have decided to launch a Patreon specifically for Lewd Dungeon Adventures artwork (some of which will be early access) and to allow fans of the series to get a sneak peek into campaigns that are currently in the works. 

If you did not pledge to a Kickstarter tier that gives early access to the game, this is your second chance to get it through Patreon. Every month, I will be sending Patrons subscribed to The Early Bird tier updated files of any campaigns currently in production. 

I've also recently gotten into creating AI artwork, so for now, most of the tiers give Patrons the opportunity to have an AI anime character generated for them. 

There are also a few tiers with an exclusive Mimic Attack sticker not available via Kickstarter. For those tiers, you will have to be subscribed for a total of 3 months to get the sticker.

I will also be posting a lot of free artwork on the Patreon page, so even if you don't subscribe, check it out once a week for some extra Lewd Dungeon Adventures goodies.
